What is a recall, really?
A recall means the government made the manufacturer admit a safety defect — and the fix is free at any dealer, forever, even for used cars. What's wrong: Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus EVSB and 2024-2025 CESB school buses. The brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been properly tightened, allowing the brake caliper to detach from the anchor plate.
The danger: A detached brake caliper can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Navistar will inspect, tighten, and replace any missing bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar Customer Service at 800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24513.

What's wrong: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses equipped with halogen headlights. When the high beams are activated, the low beams turn off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The danger: Headlight low beam failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will update the body control module (BCM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25502.

What's wrong: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The driver's seat belt anchor bolt may come loose.
The danger: A loose seat belt may not properly restrain the driver in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix: Dealers will install spacers and tighten the seat belt anchor bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 2, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25504.

What's wrong: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. The parking brake can be released when the wheelchair platform lift is deployed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems."
The danger: A bus that moves while the platform lift is in operation increases the risk of injury.

What's wrong: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024-2026 IC Bus CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The tension spring may corrode and break, disengaging the barking brake.
The danger: A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.

The underfloor reinforcement may not have been installed, compromising the structural integrity of the buses. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" and 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."
The danger: Reduced structural integrity may increase the risk of injury in a crash.

The danger: Unintended activation of the parking brake while driving increases the risk of a crash.

What's wrong: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. While carrying the maximum number of occupants, the bus may exceed Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when the fuel tank and fluid reservoirs are full.
The danger: An incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the bus, increasing the risk of a crash.

The danger: The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.
The fix: Dealers will install rivets along the driver's side window seam and entrance door seam, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 14, 2026.
