What is a recall, really?

What's wrong: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles. The second-row center and right-side seats may have insufficiently welded head restraint brackets. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints."
The danger: A head restraint bracket that is insufficiently welded may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix: Dealers will replace the 60% rear seat-back frame sub-assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 19, 2024. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 24TB04 and 24TA04.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the carpeting on the driver's side foot well was coming unglued on the left side, close to the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to have the carpet reglued. The vehicle was repaired; however, the carpet started to detach again from the vehicle's foot well, and the contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and was advised that it was a known issue, and there was a Technical Service Bulletin: SB-0101-24 for the repair. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
I purchased a certified preowned vehicle from Fowler Toyota in [XXX] , and after complaining multiple times about my engine being too loud, a musty smell in my trunk, the attempting to clean my trunk and me pointing out rust spots in the trunk and the smell returning multiple times, and a sulfur smell that continued to get worse month after month, they finally listened to me the 3rd week of November and discovered that this car that had a previous cosmetic accident to the rear of the car before being certified, indeed had a failing catalytic converter, a misaligned trunk as well as a busted strut among other issues. There was exhaust getting into my car, causing myself, headaches, my [XXX] and [XXX] to take a nap as soon as I would pick them up from school every day for the last month that I had it before they took it in November that all of this resolved after I was given a rental. I also periodically on a weekly basis, took my pregnant daughter to her doctors appointment so she was exposed as well. My husband occasionally rode with me also among other people. After 3 1/2 months of my car being “fixed”, it was returned to me and I was told it was in perfect condition and Toyota corporate had inspected it. Approximately 10 days after picking it up, I took a long drive out on a highway with traffic lights on my way back. I started to fall asleep. I feel like I had bricks on my eyelids and it was only 3:30 in the afternoon. I almost crashed into a wall on the side. I rolled my window down and instantly felt better. I purchased a carbon monoxide monitor and after three days it registered and went off at a level of 49. I tried to take it in after calling the dealer that day, but they did not have a car for me. They only had a 4Runner that I’m not comfortable driving so I had to wait another 36 hours on a car. The next day, the carbon monoxide detector went off and registered at 315 only in a parking lot. We have purchased a used 2025 Toyota Camry from Elgin Toyota in Illinois on 2/28/2026. On Friday, March 6, 2026, at approximately 11:50 AM, my husband, [XXX] , left his place of employment (Amazon in [XXX] ). While traveling southbound on the interstate at highway speed, the rear bumper cover suddenly detached from the vehicle and flew off. He safely pulled off the interstate at approximately 12:26 PM and called me in a panic to explain what had happened. I immediately asked if he had struck any road debris or run over anything while driving. He confirmed that he had not. This occurred after the Highway XX exit in [XXX] and before any [XXX] exits on the interstate. When [XXX] was still driving, he saw in his rear view mirror a semi-truck had run over the bumper cover, making it unsafe for him to retrieve any remaining pieces from the roadway. I instructed him to return home immediately and park the vehicle safely under our carport. Following this incident, I contacted two separate body shops to obtain repair estimates. Both shops expressed significant concern and stated they had never seen a bumper cover simply detach from a vehicle under normal driving conditions—especially on a recently purchased vehicle that should have been inspected prior to sale. One body shop owner specifically advised that we contact the dealership immediately, as this type of issue should not occur if the vehicle had been properly inspected. Frankly, I am extremely concerned and alarmed by this situation. We had been in possession of the vehicle for less than one week. If this had occurred during heavy traffic or rush hour, the detached bumper could have caused a serious accident or injury to other drivers on the interstate. The moonroof spontaneously shattered when I was driving on the freeway which sounded like a gunshot. There were no external factors such as debris from other vehicles and the temperature outside was relevantly constant at about 78F. No other cars were close to me or in front of me. For almost the entire 2 years I had my car, nothing has ever damaged the moonroof glass. I do want to note an observation that may or may not be linked to the potential safety defect: I do recall hearing strange pebble-like noises occasionally on the freeway & off the freeway at speeds of 35-65 mph. It sounds like crumbs falling down the sides/top of the car in a horizontal pattern. I observed this as early as 1 month into ownership. Upon closer inspection after stopping to inspect my vehicle, the glass shows to have shattered/blew up & outward in cube shaped pieces and the pattern of the glass appears spiderweb-like, not originating from an impact point. The fracture pattern of the remaining glass appears to match a smooth edge breakage pattern which indicates stress failure due to a spontaneous glass breakage. The dealer has denied coverage due to the technician 'finding no evidence of structural damage.' Yet, my moonroof shattered upwards and there is not evidence of an impact crater. My car is still under warranty and under 2 years old and currently is only at about 20,500 miles. The dealership quoted me 2500185 diagnostic. I will be elevating to Toyota corporate to request a closer inspection. Based on research, I discovered numerous reports of similar spontaneous sunroof failures in Toyota vehicles. The failure presents a high risk for public safety because the glass could fall into the eyes and face of the driver at highway speed. Additionally, drivers could be startled & swerve on the road at high & low speeds, on the freeway/streets. There were no warning signs/alerts. One moment I was driving to work on the quiet road & the next I heard what sounded like a gunshot.
The dealership and manufacturer will not provide mco on the vehicle they sold me as new. I think they’re title cloning or washing and committing odometer fraud. They don’t submit to the dmv actual details of make model

Glass sunroof exploded while driving.
I'm writing this for my father because he might not have the technical capacity to do this. He is [XXX] old. He bought a car last year brand new from Toyota. It is a Hybrid Camry that has some options that allow the car to follow traffic, lane keep etc. On [XXX] he had a Hybrid System Malfunction that caused the car to accelerate while at a traffic light ready to turn left. The acceleration caused his car to collide with the car in front of him. He tried to press the brakes but was not able to do it fast enough. The car in front had no damage. His car has a lot of damage. The other driver drove off. His car was damaged so much that it was not drivable. There was radiator fluid on the road. This was on [XXX]. He took the car in immediately after back to the Toyota dealership. The car is still there. It has been almost 40 days now with no resolution. No car, no rental. The dealership is saying Toyota (the headquarters has to deal with it), and Toyota did a 3rd party inspection on Nov 11, 2025. And now they are saying they will do another Toyota inspection between 30 and 45 business days from the initial inspection. So that takes us into mid January 2026 with my dad stranded with no car or having to uber or pay out of pocket to rent a car. On top of that, the dealership now has told my dad he has to get the car off their lot or start accumulating fees. They performed an EDR report. Attachin below. I am also attaching several pictures of the error messages I got including proximity notification system malfunction. And other documents. Rear camera is not aligned off by 8 inches. This is a safety hazard potential damage accident or loss of life please investigate. Dealership said nothing they can do until a recall is issued. Dealership hit bumper on routine service says nothing sure what happened
The sunroof on my Camry would not close. I took it to Toyota in were they determined that the cables bound up in the track and the only fix was a new roof assembly. This is a safety risk because if the sunroof cannot close it allows the vehicle to be susceptible to outdoor elements as well as safety issues regarding theft. The problem was seen and confirmed by the Toyota dealership, in where they replaced the roof assembly in its entirety under warranty. There were no warning lights that were triggered by the roof become inoperable. They appeared the day I took it in to get serviced, February 28, 2025. The vehicle has only been inspected by the Toyota Dealership Service Center. We were told that there is no remedy to this issue, and that frequent use will ultimately lead to the roof assembly needing to be replaced again. A cost of $10,000 that was luckily covered under warranty. This is an insane amount of money, and the resolution of "don't use your sunroof" is laughable. When you purchase a car, it is to be able to use it in it's entirety. If I didn't want to use a sunroof, I would have purchase one with one. The dealership said they were not going to submit this as a possible recall.

Hit front passenger side at approximately 70mph. Did nearly $15000 damage. No air bags deployed.
The car steered on its own without warning of Lane Departure
The entirety of the front of my car was destroyed and was deemed a total loss by insurance and repair shop. Yet, the air bags never went off. Everyone, including the police officers at the scene were surprised that it did not go off. The other vehicle in the incident had their airbags deployed. Due to my airbags not deploying, my head was shot forward and backwards. I went to the ER that night because my head had been in serious discomfort and pain. Additionally, to this day (1/8/26), my upper back and neck has been in pain and sore. There were no warnings and problems prior to the failure of the airbags being deployed.
The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph on the last lane during traffic, and depressed the brake pedal when another vehicle suddenly rear-ended their vehicle, causing them to rear-end the vehicle in front. The vehicle that rear-ended the contact was also rear-ended as a result of the crash, causing a second impact from the rear to the contact's vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front a second time. The incident involved 6 vehicles in total. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact received back injuries, and medical attention was sought. The contact did not receive reports that any other persons were injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven to the residency, but once parked, an unknown warning flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who, after inspecting the damage on the vehicle, determined that the vehicle was not worth being repaired, especially due to the extensive damage done to its front-end. The vehicle was 80% damaged and therefore considered totaled. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,412.

The contact stated while driving 65 MPH with the cruise control activated during a rainstorm, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system activated, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 250.
Only one incident almost caused an accident (there are a total of 5 different incidents that have happened however). I was pulling out of a parking lot into traffic. The light was green in the direction I was trying to travel, and there was traffic coming but they were far enough away that I could have safely turned into the lane and moved with traffic if the car would have accelerated as was expected. Instead, the collision system deemed that there was an impending collision about to happen and would not allow me to accelerate. On coming traffic had to swerve to avoid hitting me, which thankfully there was no car in the second lane and they were safely able to avoid hitting me. The car was taken to the dealer and the form that is included was supplied to the dealer and subsequently to Toyota engineers. After 4 weeks, the dealer returned the car because Toyota engineers stated that the PCS system is acting as intended, and there is nothing wrong with the system
When using lane trace assist as part of the adaptive cruise control the vehicle will violently pull the steering wheel to the left or right out of the lane. This will occur even with vehicles in the lane it pulls to that are detected by the blind spot monitoring system. Brought to a Toyota dealership and they only verified 4 wheel alignment however this did not correct the issue.

2024 Toyota Camry in 50000+ miles. While driving, a warning sign on dash stating Steering Power Low. Steering was loosing power became hard to turn. After few seconds, warning sign disappeared car went back normal. It happened times in last few days.
The car steered on its own without warning of Lane Departure
on June 20th, 2024, my vehicle started making a vibration and roaring sound at 3k miles at speeds as low as 35 MPH and gets louder the faster you go. the steering wheel also has a vibration. The noise and vibration get worse when you turn the wheel the left but when returned back to center it stops or is quitter and less vibration. when turning to the right it does not do it at all and will sometimes it does. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now first time they said oh it just wind noise. second time they said we found the noise but don't know what the problem is. 3-time service manager rode with me, and he pointed out the sound and I said yes that sound. They then replaced both front wheel bearings. and they told me on pick up that the noise was completely gone. 2 minutes after leaving the noise was still there and even louder. Toyota seems to not able to fix the problem. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressee knowing that it involves the suspension in the front end of the vehicle.

vehicle does not always respond when the gas pedal is pushed. the engine revs and rpms increase, but gears don't catch. merging onto highways, or making turns into traffic are terrifying as i'm not sure if the car will go.
There is a vibration sound that occurs when the brake is pressed or depressed. When driving the sound is not present. I brought it to the Smithtown Toyota dealership and they couldn’t find anything and said they heard nothing in the video I sent. After countless hours troubleshooting I traced the sound to the driver well area by the brake and gas pedal. The sound and vibration seems to be transferring from the engine area.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Camry equipped with a Firestone FT140: Tire Size 205/65R16/95H. The contact stated that when they went to their vehicle, they noticed that the rear driver's side tire, which had recently been rotated from the front of the vehicle, was bulging outward near the rim. The contact stated that the tire was the original tire. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The tire was not repaired or replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,893.
Tire size P 235/45 R 18 Factory installed on 2024 Toyota Camry, failed catastrophically at 3415 (+/- 5) miles. Vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-40 in Knoxville, TN, when the tread separated completely after bilateral failure of the sidewalls about 2" from the beads. Car stability and control were compromised, but fortunately, vehicle was pulled to the shoulder without incident. Tire warning light came on at some point before failure (exact time unknown). Tire replacement cost is $300. Wheel suffered some damage but has not been assessed for repair cost. Replacement cost is estimated as $500. Toyota dealer (Toyota Knoxville) inspected the tire and claimed it failed due to toad hazard. However, they are not tire experts, their inspection was casual, and they could not point to any specific damage from the supposed road hazard that would cause the catastrophic failure, and they have a conflict of interest in that they may be motivated to avoid warranty claims and sell new tires. The road-hazard scenario is implausible and unsupported by evidence. Th
215/55-17 Driving a brand new 2024 Toyota Camry with the OEM Bridgestone Tires on a smooth road at normal speed. Tire exploded and went flat. My safety and others were at risk but fortunately I was able to keep control of the car. Bridgestone is unwilling to honor the warranty
The contact owns 2024 Toyota Camry equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Lire Line: Turanza EL440, Tire Size: 235/45/R18, DOT Number: 7XFU431JB2. The contact stated that there was a large bulge on the sidewall of the front passenger's side tire, and there was a small bulge on the sidewall of the rear driver's side tire. Additionally, there was a crease from the front to the back of the rear passenger's side tire. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the failure was related to an unknown voluntary recall. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The tire failure mileage was approximately 200. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 200.

The front passenger seat-belt lock failure to lock in place; resulting in faulting loud warning sounds; passenger at risk, unsafe. and not able to use passenger front seat during driving. There was no prior problem with the seat belt mechanism failure. The vehicle is not under any warranty, or independent service center inspected the problem. The vehicle was recently purchased from Enterprise Car Sales.
The seat belt on the right side in the second row failed to work. My son-in-law was sitting in that position when I, who was driving, began to proceed through an intersection when I thought the light had turned green. When I realized I was wrong, I slammed on the brakes. His seatbelt did not arrest his forward movement, and he hit the back of the right front passenger seat. Thank goodness I had only been going about 5 mph. Also, the belt did not retract afterwards. For the remaining two blocks of our trip, he had a few feet of slack seat belt in front of him. I have not yet reported the issue to Toyota.

I have a 2024 Toyota Camry with a ua80 transmission and started having problems around 92000 miles and I'm starting to have a lot more at 109,000 miles which is a little ridiculous for a transmission that is way too early very concerned for my safety on a pretty new vehicle with not that many miles
The vehicle allows the engine to be turned off, key removed, while the vehicle is still in drive with no warning lights or sounds. I have tested and the vehicle can roll away. Complained to the toyota dealership and they said the service tech consulted with toyota headquarters and determined no fix was possible because this is normal function of the the vehicle. However, this is a concerning safety hazard because the vehicle can roll. But also, is against the standards. Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention, mandates that vehicles with an automatic transmission and a "park" position must have a key-locking system that prevents key removal unless the transmission is locked in "park" or becomes locked in "park" as a direct result of removing the key.

The Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems went out on my new vehicle at about 3500 miles. There are warnings for both that come up on my dashboard. I brought my vehicle in for its 5000 mile check-up and asked Toyota to check into it. Their tech said the outage was caused by the vehicle being in a collision and they were going to charge me to repair the safety systems. The thing is that this vehicle has not been in a collision. I believe it was a faulty installation of the systems. I am not going to pay for something not caused by me when the vehicle is new and under full warranty. I am making this complaint so that maybe there are other vehicles with the same issue and we can get repairs covered by Toyota under a recall.
When using lane trace assist as part of the adaptive cruise control the vehicle will violently pull the steering wheel to the left or right out of the lane. This will occur even with vehicles in the lane it pulls to that are detected by the blind spot monitoring system. Brought to a Toyota dealership and they only verified 4 wheel alignment however this did not correct the issue.

A thumping noise on the driver's side can be heard at times when I encountered low spots. In addition, the rear brakes has grinding noise. Hendricks Toyota of [XXX] were made of the issues there times. On XXX during the schedule maintenance I asked that the hubs be removed again to check the noise. A ride along test drive was conducted by a technician. Due to rainy conditions it was noted that I would have to reschedule the test. The offical service records indicate the exact facts. I received a later email from the dealership stating they would not honor the return trip. A complaint was filed with the NC Attorney's General Office Consumer Protection. The dealership used deceptive practice and stated they had service the vehicle and never mentioned about the denied return for the inspection. They have been asked several times to remove the hubs but refused. As a 100% disabled veteran I relie on the vehicle for medical transportation and daily necessities to and from places. The vehicle has an intermittent loss of power/hesitation during acceleration. The issue has occurred multiple times since the vehicle was purchased new and is still occurring at approximately 42,000 miles while under warranty. When accelerating from a stop or low speed, the vehicle sometimes has little to no power, feels like it stalls or fails to respond, and then suddenly kicks in and takes off. This creates a safety concern because the vehicle may not accelerate when entering traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, or merging, and then may surge unexpectedly. The issue occurred again on May 22, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM while leaving a grocery store parking lot. The dash camera footage exists, but the hesitation is difficult to see clearly on video. There were no known warning lights or messages displayed at the time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue has been reported to the dealership multiple times during service visits. The dealership has stated that the condition is part of the hybrid system/normal operation, but the concern has not been repaired or resolved. I believe this may involve the hybrid propulsion system, powertrain, throttle response, transmission/eCVT, inverter, or related software control system. The cause is currently unknown.
I purchased a certified preowned vehicle from Fowler Toyota in [XXX] , and after complaining multiple times about my engine being too loud, a musty smell in my trunk, the attempting to clean my trunk and me pointing out rust spots in the trunk and the smell returning multiple times, and a sulfur smell that continued to get worse month after month, they finally listened to me the 3rd week of November and discovered that this car that had a previous cosmetic accident to the rear of the car before being certified, indeed had a failing catalytic converter, a misaligned trunk as well as a busted strut among other issues. There was exhaust getting into my car, causing myself, headaches, my [XXX] and [XXX] to take a nap as soon as I would pick them up from school every day for the last month that I had it before they took it in November that all of this resolved after I was given a rental. I also periodically on a weekly basis, took my pregnant daughter to her doctors appointment so she was exposed as well. My husband occasionally rode with me also among other people. After 3 1/2 months of my car being “fixed”, it was returned to me and I was told it was in perfect condition and Toyota corporate had inspected it. Approximately 10 days after picking it up, I took a long drive out on a highway with traffic lights on my way back. I started to fall asleep. I feel like I had bricks on my eyelids and it was only 3:30 in the afternoon. I almost crashed into a wall on the side. I rolled my window down and instantly felt better. I purchased a carbon monoxide monitor and after three days it registered and went off at a level of 49. I tried to take it in after calling the dealer that day, but they did not have a car for me. They only had a 4Runner that I’m not comfortable driving so I had to wait another 36 hours on a car. The next day, the carbon monoxide detector went off and registered at 315 only in a parking lot. The driver seat cushion shield failed, the internal plastic brackets and clips broke from normal everyday use. The power seat switches are mounted to the driver seat cushion shield. Since there was no support for the cushion shield, the knobs on the switches that control the power seat would "pop off" and fall under the seat making it impossible for some drivers (especially older and/or overweight drivers) to be able to move the seat back in order to escape the vehicle in an emergency thus trapping the driver. This actually happened to me although it didn't happen during an emergency. The power seat knobs had "popped off" while I was driving and when I stopped and tried to get out, I couldn't move the seat back because there were no knobs and I was trapped for a while. I eventually wiggled myself free but if it was an emergency situation like a collision, I would have been trapped. The knobs popped off several times and I would just snap them back on but it was the flexing of the broken seat cushion shield that would push on the knobs from the inside and make them "pop off". I took my car to the dealer for warranty repair, they refused to warranty the repair because "EXTERNAL FORCE" caused the failure. When I asked what "EXTERNAL FORCE" causes the failure, the service advisor stated that JUST BY SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT CAUSES THE DRIVER SEAT CUSHION FAILURE. There is definitely a structural deficiency in their design if the failure is due to everyday normal use. Toyota has had TSB's on Tacoma and Tundra vehicles for their driver seat cushion shields cracking and they've upgraded parts to handle this problem. The problem on the Camry is potentially much more dangerous because the driver can become trapped because the power seat control knobs can pop off while driving.
Front passenger seat back appears to be loose and squeaks if anyone occupies the seat.

The headlights do not project far enough down the road making it difficult to see at night. It almost appears as if the headlights are pointing down. This is a hugh safety issue. I brought my car in to the dealer and was told that my headlights match all other 2024 camry's and there is nothing that can be done unless Toyota issues a safety recall. I have researched this issue and found many complaints online.
The side mirrors plastic is melted so is the plastic on the roof and the plastic between the rear and the front door is melted

when in motion, the backseat windows can be lowered and the entire car is subject to the loudest WOOFWOOFWOOF combined with shaking, and excessive vibrating
on June 20th, 2024, my vehicle started making a vibration and roaring sound at 3k miles at speeds as low as 35 MPH and gets louder the faster you go. the steering wheel also has a vibration. The noise and vibration get worse when you turn the wheel the left but when returned back to center it stops or is quitter and less vibration. when turning to the right it does not do it at all and will sometimes it does. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now first time they said oh it just wind noise. second time they said we found the noise but don't know what the problem is. 3-time service manager rode with me, and he pointed out the sound and I said yes that sound. They then replaced both front wheel bearings. and they told me on pick up that the noise was completely gone. 2 minutes after leaving the noise was still there and even louder. Toyota seems to not able to fix the problem. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressee knowing that it involves the suspension in the front end of the vehicle.

Purchased a 2024 Camry SE with defective rear glass. Glass is uneven along the horizontal defroster lines creating a wavy effect. This greatly affects the visibility and clarity of vehicles in the rearview mirror. Vehicle was taken to the Toyota dealership and was told replacement would not be covered by warranty. My previous 2021 Camry did not have this issue and was an identical model, nor have I encountered this issue in other vehicles thus far. The lack of explanation or willingness to help from the dealership is frustrating as it is extremely annoying to deal with on a daily basis.

rcta alert signal is to low. I can not hear it at all. I turned in a 2015 avalon, that system , i would say was at medium level, easily indentifiable as an alert warning signal. I assume that the change of mounting position from the shelf behind the back seat to the trunk or the warning device itself is the cause of the low volume.

Friday, August 2, 2024 – While driving car on [XXX] in Portland, OR major unknown problem surfaced. Had car towed into dealership, paying a towing fee of $217.50. Seven hundred nine (709) miles were on odometer. Saturday, August 1, 2024 – Telephoned Royal Moore Toyota and spoke with George Stavrakis – every lug nut on all four (4) wheels were loose and only finger tight. Plus three (3) studs on right rear wheel were broken off. New rim would be needed. George stated that because I had my oil changed by Walmart that they (Walmart) must have loosed all the lug nuts. I had watched Walmart service the vehicle the entire time and Walmart never touched the lug nuts. Monday, August 5, 2024 – Our insurance agent informed me that that National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had issued a recall (number 23V432000) for 2023 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrids because of significantly under torquing of the lug nuts. The rear windshield is blurry (has a ripple effect) when viewing from the rear view mirror, or directly at the window. At night the problem is compounded where the reflection from the headlights behind you appear as "ladder like" lines in your view in the pattern of the defroster lines. The glare and view both in the daylight and at night is completely distracting to the driver. The car was taken to the Toyota dealership where it was first believed to be a tint defect. The tint was removed and Toyota confirmed it was not the tint, but the actual rear glass was defective. They attempted to reapply the tint to be sure, but the problem still persists. They have not provided us with any options to replace the glass and have said that they were aware of complaints and that all 2024 Camry models are like this. Toyota has confirmed there is an issue with the window. We have a case # open with them, but they have not provided a solution. This is a dangerous safety issue. During the day, everything behind you appears "wavy". The glare especially at night is similar to someone driving behind you with their brights on then having to constantly readjust your eyes to focus forward.
