What is a recall, really?
A recall means the government made the manufacturer admit a safety defect — and the fix is free at any dealer, forever, even for used cars. Recalls range from a software update to "the steering wheel can detach," so read the danger line on each one. Buying used? Ask the seller for proof each recall was completed, or have a dealer run the VIN. Recalls also have a quieter cousin worth reading: technical service bulletins.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC. (Rivian) is recalling certain 2024 R1T and R1S vehicles. The dashboard air bag warning label may be missing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
The danger: Without the dashboard label, operators may be unaware of the increased risks that an air bag poses to an infant or child in the front seat, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.
The fix: Rivian mailed owners the warning label information, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 30, 2024. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4264. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1429.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC. (Rivian) is recalling certain 2023-2024 EDV, R1S, and R1T vehicles. The headlights may be improperly aimed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamp, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."
The danger: Improperly aimed headlights can result in insufficient illumination of the road, decreasing the driver's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Rivian will inspect and adjust the headlight alignment as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4264. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1445.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2024 R1T and R1S vehicles. The attachment clips on the upper B-pillar and/or C-pillar trim panels may have been damaged during a service procedure.
The danger: Damaged pillar trim panel clips can result in improper side curtain air bag deployment, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The fix: Rivian will replace the pillar trim panels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 16, 2024. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM 1464.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2025 R1T and R1S vehicles. The D-ring bolts for one or both front seat belt anchorage assemblies may not have been properly installed.
The danger: An improperly secured seat belt may not restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The fix: Rivian will inspect and properly secure the seat belt anchorage assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2025. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1681.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2025 R1S and R1T vehicles that previously had service performed. The toe link may have been reassembled incorrectly during service procedures performed before March 10, 2025.
The danger: The toe link joint may separate, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Rivian will replace the rear toe link bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1794. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 24, 2026.

What's wrong: Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2025 R1T and 2022-2026 R1S vehicles. The bolts that secure the second-row driver and passenger side seat belt retractor assemblies may be improperly tightened.
The danger: An improperly secured seat belt retractor may not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The fix: Rivian will inspect and tighten the bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 2, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1795.

2024 Rivian R1T has a persistent pulling defect and safety hazard. Four repair attempts at Rivian Denver Service Center all failed: 1. Jul 16, 2025 - WO-1452784, 16,117 mi: Alignment performed. Defect continued. 2. Aug 11, 2025 - WO-1530133, 16,936 mi: Same-day return. Second alignment. Defect continued. 3. Nov 3-4, 2025 - WO-1745098, 20,520 mi: Rivian lead technician ride-along confirmed pull in writing: "After 2 alignments, vehicle is still pulling. Confirmed by lead technician." Tire rotation attempted. Defect continued. 4. Dec 22-23, 2025 - WO-1869730, 22,136 mi: Rivian documented "No Problem Found" after 2.5hr alignment + 20-min test drive, then waived $690 in labor. I have video of a Rivian advisor verbally confirming the pull in Nov 2025, directly contradicting this finding. Pulling caused premature wear on all 4 tires by 20,774 mi (Rivian confirmed, WO-1765303). Additional safety defects: - FSAM-1507: Hub-to-knuckle fasteners loose in 4 locations (Feb 2025, 11,590 mi) - FMVSS 108 headlamp federal violation corrected Jul 2025 - FSAM-1678: Front halfshaft washers replaced Nov 2025 - 12V battery failure limited vehicle to 61 MPH while driving (Oct 2024, 8,215 mi) Vehicle returned May 27, 2026 due to unresolved safety defect.Please investigate this defect on 2024 Rivian R1T vehicles.
Vehicles Steering wheel shakes when traveling over 20mph. Dealer has reproduced the problem multiple times but insists it’s a “design limitation”. The shaking can cause loss of control of the vehicle. Dealer refuses to investigate further. This has been occurring since day of purchase.

On February 15, 2025, Rivian performed Field Service Action FSAM-1507 on my 2024 Rivian R1T at 11,590 miles. Hub-to-knuckle fasteners were found loose in four structural locations. This was identified as a safety-related field service action. A second field service action, FSAM-1678 (front halfshaft NVH washers), was performed November 3–4, 2025. I am reporting both actions to create a federal record of the structural safety deficiencies in this vehicle.
The horn no longer works. Mine and other’s safety are at risk because I have no way to relay hazards while driving.the issue has been ongoing and dealer has not reached back out. The component has not been inspected. No warning lights or messages.

While traveling at highway speed on Interstate 95, the vehicle experienced a complete and sudden loss of propulsion. The vehicle would not respond to the Vehicle Restart function. The driver was able to safely pull to the shoulder from the right lane. The vehicle was towed to a Rivian service center, where technicians identified a low-voltage event matching a known Rivian engineering investigation. Rivian confirmed no current repair exists and that engineering is actively working on software improvements. The vehicle was returned unrepaired after 13 days. Rivian also replaced the 12V battery under warranty at a prior service visit in July 2025 for a related electrical system defect. Two field service actions (FSAM-1507, FSAM-1794) have also been performed on this vehicle.

The entertainment and gauge cluster displays begin to slow down and stutter, eventually leading to a full reboot. This causes the ADAS view, as well as the blind spot cameras, and reverse camera to display a still image, even while the vehicle is moving, or display no image at all. Also, if this happens while Highway Drive Assist is active, the state of the system is not displayed and an audible chime is played.

I believed my car had a problem with the seals of the windows allowing severe wind noise. After attempted repair the problem persisted and, on closer inspection, it became evident that the driver side door is mis-installed and crooked. Rivian attempted to reprair this and only made it worse. The amount of wind/road noise that is coming in now is as if the windows was open. The door frame vibrates and whistles at speed. The mobile tech doesn't feel this is repairable but Rivian won't take responsibility for it. They have denied my BBB claim and I am pursuing a lemon lawyer.

The truck needed to be towed and the hub and brakes needed to be replaced. The truck was undrivae while driving at highway speeds and could have crashed. When questioned, the service center reiterated that this was “not a recall” but simply a head up. The repairs were covered under warranty.

The contact owns a 2024 Rivian R1T. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the cruise control activated, the "Drive Fault," message was displayed after which the vehicle lost motive power and the contact became aware that the brakes were not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway to turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 1,700.
